The Legacy of Leadership: My Military Journey

If you know me, you know this: Leadership has never been a title for me; it has always been a responsibility.

I am a 12-year U.S. Army Veteran. I served 29 years as a Corrections Lieutenant. I’ve led teams in environments where discipline wasn’t optional, where integrity mattered daily, and where lives depended on clarity.

Today, I serve as the CEO and Founder of Unity In Service, Inc. I am a Visibility Strategist, a 3x International Best-Selling Author, a 2x Winning Public Speaker, a Business Coach, Podcast Host, and Event Organizer.

But at my core? I am a servant leader.

Everything I build is rooted in one belief: service shapes legacy.

And that is why I’m honored to be speaking at the Top 100 Most Powerful Black Women in Business Summit, hosted by Natalia Nicholson and Women in Digital Business.

Why My Military Journey Still Matters

When people hear “military,” they think structure, discipline, and order.

And yes, that’s part of it.

But what shaped me most wasn’t just the uniform. It was learning how to lead under pressure.
How to make decisions when the stakes are high.
How to carry responsibility without losing integrity.

My military leadership journey taught me that leadership isn’t about being loud; It’s about being steady.

It taught me that visibility is not ego; it is stewardship.

It taught me that legacy is built in small, consistent actions over time.

As Black women in business, we often carry invisible weight ranging from expectations, responsibility, community, and culture.

The question is:

How do we lead without burning out?
How do we build businesses while protecting our integrity?
How do we create impact that lasts?

What I’ll Be Sharing at the Summit

My masterclass at the Top 100 Most Powerful Black Women in Business Summit is titled:

“The Legacy of Leadership: My Military Journey.”

In this session, I will share lessons that translate directly into entrepreneurship and executive leadership:

This is not just a story about the past; It’s a blueprint for how to lead now.

Whether you’re scaling your business, building your platform, or stepping into greater visibility, leadership principles remain the same.

You must know who you are.
You must protect your integrity.
You must serve something bigger than yourself.
